8066184 / WP8066184 Dryer Motor Drive Pulley (29" Cabinets)
Key Features
- Precision V-Groove Channel: Engineered with exact dimensions to grip the ribbed side of the dryer drive belt securely, maximizing power transfer and preventing the belt from slipping under heavy loads.
- Heavy-Duty Steel Construction: Manufactured from hardened, die-cast metal to withstand the immense start-up torque of a fully loaded wet laundry drum without warping or grooving over time.
- Perfectly Balanced: Factory-machined to spin perfectly true, eliminating high-speed wobble that can cause excessive vibration, rumbling noises, and premature motor bearing failure.
- Protects Belts: A smooth, unblemished pulley surface prevents the rapid chewing, fraying, or snapping of replacement drive belts.

Compatibility & Fitment
This motor pulley is specifically designed for 29-inch wide dryers with the lint filter located on the top of the machine. Compatible brands include:
- Whirlpool: Fits standard 29" wide top-lint screen models.
- Kenmore / Sears: Fits many 110-prefix 29-inch dryers manufactured by Whirlpool.
- Other Brands: Also compatible with select 29" models from Roper, Estate, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, and Crosley.
- Note: If you have a 27-inch wide dryer (lint screen inside the front door), this pulley will not fit your machine.
When to Replace
- Drum Will Not Turn: You can hear the motor running, but the drum doesn't spin. The internal threads of the pulley may have stripped completely smooth, causing it to spin freely on the shaft.
- High-Pitched Squealing: As the metal groove wears down and becomes completely flat, the belt loses grip and screeches loudly against the metal during startup.
- Burning Rubber Smell: A heavily rusted, burred, or slipping pulley will generate extreme friction, melting the rubber drive belt.
- Frequent Belt Breakage: If you install a new belt and it snaps or shreds within a few weeks, a damaged motor pulley is usually the culprit.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: CRITICAL: Completely unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet before opening the cabinet or accessing the motor area.
- Lock the Motor Shaft: PRO TIP: To remove the old pulley, you must prevent the motor shaft from turning. Look at the back end of the motor (opposite the pulley) for a flat spot where you can securely attach an adjustable wrench or locking pliers to hold the shaft still.
- Left-Hand Threads (Reverse Thread): Many dryer motor pulleys use a reverse thread to prevent them from unscrewing during operation. This means you may need to turn the pulley clockwise to loosen it and remove it.
- Inspect the Full Drive System: While you have the machine disassembled to replace the motor pulley, it is highly recommended to replace the drive belt (usually part 341241) and the idler tensioner pulley (691366), as all three components wear at the exact same rate.
