  • Other Series: Saeco Intelia Deluxe, Exprelia EVO, GranBaristo, and GranAroma models.

When to Replace

  • Automatic Alert: The machine's display will indicate "Replace Filter" or the AquaClean status light will flash.
  • Capacity Limit: After filtering approximately 95 liters (25 gallons) of water.
  • Time Interval: Every 3 months to ensure hygiene and prevent bacterial growth in the filter housing.
  • De-calcification Reset: If the machine has been used without a filter and requires a manual descaling cycle, a new filter should be installed immediately afterward.
  • Note: By replacing the filter 8 times consecutively as prompted by the machine, you can typically delay the need for a full descaling for up to 5,000 cups.

Installation Tips

  • Air Bubble Removal: Shake the filter for about 5 seconds, then immerse it upside down in a container of cold water until no more air bubbles emerge.
  • Insertion: Push the filter vertically onto the filter connection in the water tank until it is securely seated.
  • Activation: Use the machine's "Filter" or "AquaClean" menu to activate the new filter. The machine will flush a small amount of water through the steam wand or dispenser.
  • Water Quality Check: Ensure your machine's water hardness setting is programmed correctly to allow the system to accurately track the filter’s lifespan.
  • Post-Installation: If you notice black carbon particles in the first flush, this is normal; simply run another "Hot Water" cycle to clear the remaining fine dust.

FAQ

These filters are designed for Philips, Saeco, and Gaggia bean-to-cup espresso machines that utilize the AquaClean system. This includes the EP1200, EP2200, EP3100, EP3200, EP4000, and EP5000 series, as well as specific Gaggia models like the Velasca and Velasca Prestige (RI8260, RI8263).
This filter is a direct replacement for the AquaClean CA6903 series, including CA6903/00, CA6903/01, CA6903/10, CA6903/22, and CA6903/47.
To maintain optimal water purity and protect your machine, replace the filter every 3 months or after approximately 625 cups of coffee, depending on your water hardness. When used correctly, these filters allow you to brew up to 5,000 cups before the machine requires a full descaling cycle.
Yes. After installing the new filter into the water tank, you must activate it through your coffee machine's user interface menu. This ensures the machine recognizes the new filter and resets the internal counter for the descaling alarm.
The activated carbon media effectively removes chlorine, sediment, and impurities from your tap water. This not only improves the flavor and aroma of your espresso but also prevents mineral buildup inside the machine's internal heating elements and tubing, significantly extending the life of your appliance.
Ensure the water tank is clean and free of debris before installing the new filter. When inserting the filter, press it firmly into the tank connection point to ensure a proper seal. If you notice the machine struggling to draw water, verify that the filter is fully submerged and that no air pockets are trapped inside the cartridge.
