This unit serves as a direct replacement for OEM part numbers 278-001-802, 278-003-012, 278-000-513, 278-001-376, 278-002-347, 278-001-641, and 278-001-766.
A common symptom of a failing solenoid is a 'clicking' sound when you press the start button, but the engine fails to crank. If you suspect the solenoid is the issue, you can perform a quick test by carefully jumping the two large high-current posts on the solenoid with an insulated screwdriver. If the engine cranks when you bridge these posts, the solenoid is likely faulty and needs to be replaced.
Installation is straightforward and typically requires only basic hand tools, such as a socket set and a screwdriver. Depending on your specific model and access to the electrical box, the process usually takes about 20 to 45 minutes. Ensure the battery is disconnected before you begin to prevent accidental shorts.
If the engine still does not turn over after installing a new solenoid, check your battery voltage to ensure it is fully charged. Additionally, inspect the starter motor itself, the 5A fuse located in the electrical box, and all main battery cable connections for corrosion or loose terminals, as these are common points of failure in the starting circuit.
