Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers
This capacitor is a universal replacement for any start capacitor with matching capacitance, voltage, and frequency specifications. It is commonly designated as a CD60 type motor start capacitor.
Compatibility & Fitment
Designed for intermittent duty motor starting applications. Always verify that your original capacitor's specifications match this part. Common applications include:
- HVAC units (compressors, blowers, fan motors)
- Water pumps (well pumps, pool pumps)
- Air compressors
- Refrigeration units
- Other single-phase AC electric motors
When to Replace
A failing or failed start capacitor can cause the following symptoms:
- Motor hums but does not start
- Motor requires a manual push to start turning
- Motor starts slowly or with difficulty
- Circuit breaker trips when the motor attempts to start
- Visible damage to the capacitor, such as bulging, cracking, or leaking fluid
Installation Tips
- Disconnect all electrical power to the equipment before beginning work.
- Safely discharge the old capacitor by shorting the terminals with a resistor or an insulated-handle screwdriver.
- Confirm the voltage rating and MFD/uF capacitance of the replacement part match the original capacitor. The replacement voltage rating can be equal to or higher than the original, but not lower.
- Note the position of the wires on the old capacitor terminals before disconnecting.
- Ensure the new capacitor is mounted securely and that all electrical connections are tight.
