Compatibility & Fitment
Designed for intermittent duty on single-phase AC induction motors. Common applications include:
- HVAC compressors and fan motors
- Air conditioner units
- Furnace blowers
- Well pumps and pool pumps
- Refrigeration units
- General purpose electric motors
When to Replace
A failing start capacitor may cause the following symptoms:
- Motor hums but does not start
- Motor requires a manual spin to begin operation
- Delayed motor start-up
- Visible damage to the old capacitor, such as bulging, cracking, or leaking fluid
- Circuit breaker trips when the motor attempts to start
Installation Tips
- WARNING: Disconnect all electrical power to the equipment before servicing.
- Safely discharge the existing capacitor by shorting the terminals with an insulated-handle screwdriver.
- Verify the uF/MFD rating of the new capacitor is within ±20% of the original part.
- The voltage rating of the new capacitor must be equal to or greater than the original.
- Note or photograph the wire connections before removing the old capacitor to ensure correct installation.
